Service History:
- 2004-2006—Student Associate Pastor, Shueyville United Methodist Church, Shueyville Iowa. I was 50 at that time.
- 2006 – I gave up my appointment at Shueyville UMC because during my first year at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary (2004), I presented with degenerative disk disease. The pain had become so bad that I couldn’t serve as a student pastor and handle the workload at seminary. I choose seminary.
- 2008-2013 – Appointed to Vinton, Garrison and Brandon United Methodist Churches in Iowa.
- 2013-2020 – Appointed to Fort Madison, Donnelson, and Embury. I was originally appointed there; it was only to Fort Madison UMC who had recently merged with Santa Fe UMC. Together, we built a sense of shared community, honored 175 years of Methodism in Fort Madison, held a successful capital campaign to make the church more accessible, and began to be more outward focused.
- In 2014, I was ordained as an elder in the Iowa Conference.
It was during that time, that my husband of 37 years, died in June of 2018. God was telling me it was time to come home to Michigan.
Coming back home to Michigan
- 2020-2022 – Served Constantine and White Pigeon United Methodist Churches, two of the oldest continuous meeting congregations in Michigan.
- 2022-2025 – I was appointed to Clare United Methodist Church.
During my ministry I learned it was more important to promote continuity and forward movement than it was to change things and bring in the latest trend. It’s important to observe and deeply listen to a congregation in order to help them carry on fruitful ministry.
