My faith journey began at Clarenceville Methodist Church when Rev. Elsie Johns was pastor. It was there my father answered God’s call to ministry, and as a “PK” (preacher’s kid), I grew accustomed to moving and adjusting to new communities. So, during my 39-year professional career, I lived many places in Michigan and the Washington, DC area. While working, I earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Saginaw Valley State University and a law degree (Juris Doctor) from The George Washington University School of Law.
Become a pastor? Never part of my life plan! However, I heard and answered God’s call while attending the Auburn UMC where Duane Harris was pastor. Apparently, God’s plan for those 39 years was for me to develop a variety of skills so I ended up in the right place, at the right time, prepared to do what God wanted me to do.
My first appointment in 2014 was to Fairgrove and later included Sutton-Sunshine. In 2020, I was appointed to Frankfort and Elberta. During this time I completed the Course of Study through Methodist Theological School of Ohio and then in 2022 I completed the steps to become an Associate Member of the Michigan Annual Conference.
What’s next? I am moving to a suburb of Nashville, Tennessee to live with one of my nieces and her family. I look forward to seeing what God has planned for me next.
I am so thankful for the blessings I have received during my years of ministry.
