Rev. Kristen J. LePalm

My faith journey began when I was a young child and when I graduated from high school, I felt that I was being called to be a missionary. I wanted to pursue that, so I attended Adrian College where I majored in Christian Education and Secondary Education with a specialty in Mathematics. That was my first experience of God having other plans. I graduated from college and immediately went to work as a High School math teacher and that experience continued for almost 50 years. After a number of years, I began to experience God’s calling to ministry, but I didn’t listen for quite some time. Eventually I answered and I was assigned as a DSA at Thomas UMC near Oxford Michigan. I was assigned there in the middle of COVID, which brought with it many other challenges besides the usual ones of getting my feet wet in ministry. I became a Local Pastor in 2022 and have remained at Thomas since then. I have found nothing so demanding and yet so rewarding and fulfilling as walking in the path God has ordained.

What comes when I really retire again? Only God knows, but I look forward doing some things that have had to be set aside these past years — travel, scuba diving, golf, spending time up north, spending more time with my husband and my son. I have been blessed by my ministry, my congregation, all the people who have helped me along the way, and above all my Lord and Savior.
